Danny Lee Wins the 2008 Western Amateur

I've found a video clip that talks about Danny Lee who has become No.1 in the world golf amateur by winning the 2008 Western Amateur. About after 3 minutes, they start introducing him.

Danny Lee (born 24 July 1990) is an amateur golfer from Rotorua, New Zealand. He became the number one ranked golfer in the World Amateur Golf Ranking on 20 August 2008. Lee was originally born in South Korea and emigrated to New Zealand at the age of eight. He became a naturalised New Zealander on 2 September 2008. Lee became the youngest ever winner of the U.S. Amateur in August 2008, aged 18 years, one month. Tiger Woods was the previous youngest ever winner of the men's golf championship in 1994. For more details, please go to New Zealand Golf.

Well, I'm not such a fan of golf and I have never watched or played golf before. However, the fact that Danny Lee was born in Korea got my attention to the video. I tend to feel quite proud of myself being Korean when someone from my country achieves some big things like this, winning the world tournament and establishing himself to the world. Well, everyone would feel the same way. I think it is a great way for foreigner to get to know Korea.

Right after winning the competition, 2008 US Amateur golf champ Danny Lee granted New Zealand Citizenship.

Hi my friend
I hope you are good. Thanks for your presentation to us Mr Danny Lee as one of the Korean young goofiest. I never heard about him. It is very interesting that he could become the No.1 in the world golf amateur by winning the 2008 Western Amateur. I am so happy that you became proud of your citizenship who has won the world tournament. As you said he is a world champion and he is a good symbol of Korean people. Good Luck.

Hi Baharam, thanks for your thought
Yeah. you said he is a good symbol of Korea. That's exactly my point, you know, it can enhance Korea's reputation as well as his. In short, it's good for both Korea and himself. but I don't know what to say much about the citizenship he got right after the winning of tournament.

Aged 18, that’s even two years younger than me! I have never actually heard about him before, so thanks a lot for the information. I can tell how proud you feel. I am no fan of baseball but this real famous baseball player is playing for America and he is from our country, Taiwan, his name should be Wang Jien-Ming or something like that in English. I am happy to hear that you are proud of your country’s achievements too!
